GiveBig CHQ Fundraiser

An Answer to the Whys” ” is Ellington Farman Library’s  2025 Give Big CHQ fundraising theme for the one day online fundraiser, specifically for nonprofits, held June 12th.  You may have donated to our library in the past or perhaps you are a person who cares deeply about small libraries and the value they bring to rural communities. This year our campaign is focused on updating our junior nonfiction book collection. Kids love nonfiction but adults assume they don’t. Think about it– children are naturally curious about the world around them. They start asking questions and want to know “why” from the earliest age. Nonfiction can introduce children to new places, people, ideas and concepts. It increases their knowledge of the world around them. Nonfiction also can expand a child’s vocabulary as it often contains words and facts not commonly used in everyday speech or fiction.  It helps children follow instruction, look and find  certain bits of information, and teaches them to read with a purpose.

We are looking for donors who wish to inspire and cultivate that curiosity in our young patrons. Adults who wish to help them learn about the fascinating world around them. We are looking for those donors who want to help children find the answer to “why” in a book they can read and understand themselves. Donating to our campaign, “An Answer to the Whys”, will help us fill our shelves with quality non-fiction books specifically tailored to those reading at grade levels roughly equivalent to grades 3– 8.
